Tim Hecker’s work has been described as “structured ambient”, “tectonic color plates” and “cathedral electronic music.”  The New York Times has described his work as “foreboding, abstract pieces in which static and sub-bass rumbles open up around slow moving notes and chords, like fissures in the earth waiting to swallow them whole”.

His most recent release, An Imaginary Country, is arguably less overtly aggressive than previous works, but is far from pastoral.  It engulfs you and enters your brain.  It’s threatening, beautiful, throbbing, gloomy, restive and restless at once.
Hecker’s musical abstraction delivers an intense experience that takes the listener to places they didn’t know existed.

“One of Canada’s most celebrated sound artists imbuing electro-magnetic b-rolls with humanity and grace.” —Pitchforkmedia.com
